Who Do You Say I Am?

image
Who do you say He is?
This one named Jesus?
A teacher?
A prophet?
A rabbi?
A man?
Can you hear Him calling?
“Who do you say I Am?”

Who do you say He is?
This child who was born in a stable?
A poor child?
A miracle?
A gift?
A shame?
Can you hear Him calling?
“Who do you say I Am?”

Who do you say He is?
This twelve-year-old teaching in the synagogue?
A leader?
A genius?
A prodigy?
A show-off?
Can you hear him calling?
“Who do you say I Am?”

Who do you say He is?
This traveling light among men?
A healer?
A preacher?
A saint?
A humanitarian?
Can you hear Him calling?
“Who do you say I Am?”

Who do you say He is?
This sacrifice crucified on a cross?
A Messiah?
A king?
A lion?
A lamb?
Can you hear Him calling?
“Who do you say I Am?”

Who do you say He is?
This risen body back from the dead?
A miracle?
A fulfillment?
A God?
A Savior?
Can you hear Him calling?
“Who do you say I Am?”

Who do you say He is?
This most fascinating being ever born?
The Emmanuel?
Your Friend?
The Healer?
The God?
Can you hear Him call?
“Who do you say I Am?”

Who do you say He is?
A question only you can answer.
Who you say,
What you say,
How you act,
How you believe?
Can you hear Him call?
“Who do you know I Am?”

Can You See Jesus?

image

Not my worst day,
Not my best,
But Jesus is good
And I am blessed.
Seeing my life?
What is there?
Does Jesus stand out?
Can You see He cares?
Patches are evident,
Materials are plain,
But read my life,
See Jesus’ name?
It isn’t haphazard
It’s part of the design,
Much like this poem
Does more than rhyme.
The picture above
A piece that I drew
Does Jesus stand out
His name show through?
How about your life?
Be it fancy or plain?
Can others see Jesus?
Read His name?

In the picture at the top of this post today the name Jesus is among the wood drawn.  Can you see it?

To the Baby

image

To the baby laid in a manger
In a stable in a town called Bethlehem
The common man was called
From where they were shepherding
Angels sang the way for them.

To the baby laid in a manger
The Wise Men heard their own call
From their countries far away
A long journey undertaken that night
To this baby inside Bethlehem’s wall.

To the baby brought to the temple
Simon and Anna were called to meet
The baby born to the Virgin Mary
Foretold throughout the Scriptures
The Messiah they gave a lifetime to seek.

To this baby, Jesus, we too are called
Two thousand years plus since His birth
We can choose to hear His voice
Or we can choose instead to ignore
But our souls know He holds our worth.
