The cottage has the sense of abandonment,
Though I was here just days ago.
But it’s meant to be lived in every day,
Not to be a place to come and go.
I’m throwing open the windows,
Holding wide open both the doors,
Send please, Your Holy Spirit through
Clear the staleness and so much more.
May the winds of Your hearts love,
Drive dust and debris from the place,
And when it’s safe to open my eyes,
Allow me a glimpse of Your face.
Set to rights with my own two hands,
The hodge-podge of things now astray,
Settle in me true contentment,
Plant my feet again on Your narrow way.
Thank You, Heavenly Father,
For reminding me of my heart’s home,
Thank You, my Lord, my Savior,
That I do not return here alone.
