Two hundred thirty eight years ago
Our forefathers and mothers set about
To create a nation where citizens are free
A nation whose citizens knew liberty.
That liberty came at a high price
Men lost their lives for what we enjoy
It wasn’t a story or make-believe
They paid a price for in us they believed.
Some time today before the sun sets
Pause in your pursuit of the American dream
Give thanks to God for your liberty
For every breath you draw while free.
Happy 238th birthday America.
