Prayers from the Cottage by the Sea @ Midnight

image

Abba Father:
Open wide the windows here
Even though it is bitterly cold
Sweep from my heart anxiety
It’s better to face You Lord,
Than be embittered by the world.

Fling open every door around
Let every icy, sea-driven breeze
Expose my sins and jealous thoughts
It’s better to face you Lord,
Than complain and rant with ease.

Expose by wind, sea, or Your light
Every selfish sin, thought or deed
Let me plea for forgiveness in sorrow
It’s better to face You Lord,
Least my heart be plagued by weeds.

It’s true, I admit, I freely condemn
Every time I forgot the preciousness
Of the human life be woman, child or man
It’s better to face You Lord,
So my heart sees all of that and this.

Lord it’s hard to know both sides
The tears of a mother who miscarried
Excuses of women who abort
It’s better to face You Lord,
Or I let compassion and hope be buried.

Another child dies by abuse, neglect
Kidnapped and slain without restrain
Dies so young as life just begins
It’s better to face You Lord
Or bitterness and contempt have reign.

Aborted, flushed, tossed away babies
Unloved, degraded, uncared for child
Innocent without a voice that’s heard
It’s better to face You Lord,
Than evil in me be allowed to run wild.

Hearing the pain of empty wombed women
The callousness of those who
Willingly have theirs emptied
It’s better to face You Lord,
To ask You why ’til it’s starkly true.

So throw open my heart and clean it
Expose the limited understanding in I
My lack to care for those with bloody hands
It’s better to face You Lord,
To remove the beam in my own eye.

Truth, their wrongs are no more than mine
You have no scale for sins we do
Each sin and person is equal before You
It’s better to face You Lord,
To be freed by what You declare true.

Forgive me let Your winds cleanse me
From my hearts Cottage by the Sea
Where I come to meet with you Jesus
It’s better to face You Lord,
So sin & self- righteousness can’t be.
Amen.
